THE WEBER FAMILY

The Webers are a busy family who love to call the Terraces home. With 3 young kids – we feel as though all our ‘wants’ and ‘needs’ boxes have been ticked - location, size, design, quality finishes.

HOW ARE YOU TODAY AND WHAT’S GOING ON IN YOUR WORLD?

I am great thanks! After the start we’ve all had to 2020 we are just taking each day as it comes!

WHAT DO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY DO? WHAT’S YOUR WEEK LIKE?

I work part time at Inside Story in Fyshwick, my husband Ben is a Director of P2 Advisory (accounting firm) and Henslow (investment bank), we have 3 young children and a new Dachschund puppy named Bowie, so life is pretty busy!

Our mornings are pretty chaotic with 3 different drop offs before work and we spend most evenings driving kids to and from their extracurricular activities. I definitely look forward to a Friday afternoon G&T with my neighbour, or dinner with family and friends on weekends!

WHAT DREW YOU TO KINGSBOROUGH?

We were drawn to Kingsborough primarily for the location and because it offered us the size, design and quality finishes we were after without having to compromise on any of those!

The convenience of nearby shops and restaurants in Manuka, ‘old’ Kingston and the Kingston Foreshore, the ease of shopping for fresh food at Fyshwick Markets, access to parklands and Lake Burley Griffin and close proximity to the city and airport were also important to us.

THERE ARE LOTS OF FAMILIES WITH YOUNG CHILDREN WITHIN THE VILLAGE AND WE ARE FORTUNATE THAT THEY ALL GET ALONG AND ENJOY PLAYING TOGETHER.

HOW DOES KINGSBOROUGH SUIT YOUR LIFESTYLE?

Kingsborough is located in the middle of where we work, go to school, shop, exercise, play and live. It suits our lifestyle perfectly!

Ben’s office is just one block away and the kids schools are all within a 10 minute drive, as is my office. We love walking around the lake on weekends, or taking Bowie to Norgrove Park for a run around in the afternoons.

We are both very social and love entertaining so the community aspect is a real plus for us. We have many friends that are neighbours and many neighbours that have become friends. We absolutely love having a café and bar in our backyard and often catch up with friends and neighbours on a Friday evening or on the weekends there.

There are lots of families with young children within the Village and we are fortunate that they all get along and enjoy playing together.

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE UNIQUE ARCHITECTURE OF THE PRECINCT, AND WERE YOU DRAWN TO THIS PARTICULAR BUILDING?

We were drawn to the location, cosmopolitan lifestyle, quality design and finishes that Kingsborough offered. The thought and consideration from the architects and developer is clear in this development. The attention to detail and offerings in the common areas, landscaping and layout provide a cohesiveness and an opportunity for the residents to come together as a community, which is exactly what’s happening!

The draw card for the terrace we selected was the additional lounge area – it is mainly used by the kids as a play area but it also doubles as a Pilates space, study and can accommodate overnight guests as well!

WITH 3 KIDS, HOW IMPORTANT WAS IT FOR YOU TO CHOOSE A HOME THAT CATERED FOR YOUR FAMILY LIVING?

Whilst some people thought we were mad moving into a 4 story home with no backyard and 3 young kids – we feel as though all our ‘wants’ and ‘needs’ boxes have been ticked – location, size, design, quality finishes – we have it all at Kingsborough!

BEN ABSOLUTELY LOVES COOKING AND HIS CUISINE CHOICES ARE USUALLY ITALIAN OR ASIAN – MY PERSONAL FAVOURITES ARE CHILLI MUD CRAB AND PIPPI AND PRAWN PASTA!

WE HEAR BEN IS THE CHEF AT HOME? WHAT’S HIS SIGNATURE DISH?

Ben absolutely loves cooking and his cuisine choices are usually Italian or Asian – my personal favourites are Chilli Mud Crab and Pippi and Prawn Pasta!

There’s an impressive drinks collection here. Do you enjoy the duality of the space, for entertaining and gathering (at least in normal situations)?

Ben and I both love entertaining and have friends or family over most weekends. We try to keep the main living level a ‘toy free zone’, which is made easier with the kids toys being kept on the levels above. We have hosted many celebration lunches and dinners (sometimes with up to 10 or 12 adults) and the space works perfectly! The open plan and connection to the outdoor space makes it very versatile.

HOW DO YOU FIND THE SPLIT LEVEL LIVING HERE SUIT YOUR LIFESTYLE AND FAMILY OF THREE CHILDREN?

We quite like having the separate levels for the different activities. The kids bedrooms are on the top level which is for sleep, the middle level is where the kids relax, play and study and the main living space is where we ‘live’ as a family and entertain.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO RIGHT NOW?

I am most looking forward to Summer!!
